"Everything is so great with him. We've had so many wonderful years. The beginning stuff, where we were a bundle of instincts, and then the love part and the family part and the deception. I love the fights. He's a great person to fight with. You can really go to those really dark places together. He brings out all of my colors. I think I would be monotone if I hadn't hooked up with Jerry. He makes me a rainbow."
In a TV Guide article from 17 Aug 1996, entitled "The Naked Truth About Love Scenes", the author of the article talked to actors from both daytime and primetime shows, including Jerry and Nathan Fillion, whose Joe Buchanan played opposite Robin Strasser's Dorian on OLTL.
In a SOD interview in 1982, actress Jane Elliot speaks about co-starring with verDorn on GL: "One of the joys of working closely with someone you respect and trust and depend on is that you get to create together... you dream up things together. When I first joined the show I was asked shy our scenes always look so different from other people's and It's because we work at it. When you're putting that kind of effort into your work, you see a "layering" and a "coloring" to our relationship that outer actors don't get because they're too busy thinking about their personal lives and not their acting. Acting is the break from your real life. Why would you want to sit and think about bills when you could pretend to be somebody else?"
"It is like 'One Life to Live' struck gold with Jerry. He is a treasure. I only knew of him and his fine reputation, but within 15 seconds of working with him, I knew I was in for a treat," Strasser says in interview with soap columnist Nancy Reichart. 8.06

SID ABC, Interview with Bob Woods, (Sept. 2006 pictured on left): "He's [Jerry verDorn] one of those guys who I've never heard anybody say a bad word about - a real good guy. And it's been a good transition in that I haven't heard or gotten anything mail-wise from anybody who has any complaints against him!"SID ABC, Interview with Forbes March (right}, Dec 2005: On working with Jerry verDorn: "It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Nash and Clint. Jerry is so much fun to work with; we get along really well. He's got a little devil in him."
SOD, ABC Gossip, Jan 2006: Live and Learn: When Forbes March (Nash) tried to get cute in a scene with Jerry verDorn (Clint), the vet quickly showed him how things are done. "There was a pizza sitting on a table and it was just bugging me, so I said, 'Someone should eat a piece of that pizza,' " March recalls. "[But] the scene suddenly becomes about whoever's going for the pizza as opposed to what's being said, and he had this big monologue. So I go to reach for the pizza and he just slammed the lid shut on my hand, and suddenly that became this really cool beat because he's putting Nash in his place. I wasn't trying to upstage him, but he totally took my upstage and upstaged me and it totally heightened the whole scene. You learn from things like that."
SID ABC, Interview with Bree Williamson, Aug 2006: On Jerry verDorn's assimilation into the OLTL family: "I can't even imagine not having him here. He's very funny and just a rock-solid actor and person in general."

The rest of the quotes are from when he was on GL (a number from Liz Keifer since they were acting partners for 13 years):
"Entertainment Weekly's Alan Carter says [Jerry] verDorn is 'quietly powerful. His style is understated, and while he may not have flash in the pan charisma, his performance is always solid. He shows there's hope in
daytime for leading men over forty.' "[clipping, unknown soap magazine and date]
Jerry verDorn (Ross, GL) On hunkdom after 40: "I've died and gone to heaven. I was so eternally in a suit that I'm finding it difficult to act without a tie. People are startled when someone like Ross takes off his clothes, so if they see me without a tie, it's almost like nudity. I find it to be somewhat embarrassing. I think romance is better than the Chippendale's stuff."[clipped from unknown, undated (early-mid 1990s) soap magazine]
SOD, Mar 1996 Q&A with Betty Rea [casting director of GL] Who else besides Roger was tough to cast?
"The role of Ross Marler. I saw so many actors for that one. Finally, Jerry verDorn walked in, and I thought, 'At last! A real actor.' I don't believe that actors are good in only one medium; someone with talent can
usually adjust to the technical demands of theater, film, or television. (smiles) I'm sorry; I believe there is good acting and bad acting, and that's it. Jerry is extraordinary."
SOD, date unknown (prob. early 2000s) What's your secret to lasting this long? "I don't have any diva in me. I'm a no-muss, no-fuss, low-maintenance fellow, and I've always respected other people's opinions. I've also never minded doing a supporting role." [Jerry verDorn]
"He [Jerry] is probably the person with the least amount of personal ego. He truly is a wonderful person who only has the best interest of the show in mind." Elizabeth Keifer
SOD, Feature on long-running cast members of each show [~2002]"Jerry is the most generous person you will ever meet - as an acting partner, as a friend, as a mentor. He's the heart and soul of GL, and that
means something to him. The show is not a venue to look at him, it's the show itself that is important to him. Jerry is also one of the funniest guys you will ever know. It's a dry wit, and those who really know him get it. He's a man of mystery, which makes him even more interesting. It's not all goody two shoes. But his heart is so big, he would truly give you the coat off his back or lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He is so smart, too. He could run circles around all of us. We're lucky that he chose us - the GL family - to grace with his presence." Elizabeth Keifer (Blake)
SOD, Feature on long-running cast members of each show [~2002]"Jerry is such an intelligent man - swift of tongue and feet. He does all the emceeing for GL events. He has great respect for the work, and I think that's admirable. The last thing you want to hear from anyone in soaps is them pooh-poohing it." pictured left, Marj Dusay (Alexandra)
SOD, Feature on long-running cast members of each show [~2002] Playing Carrie was an extraordinary experience for me as an actor. And I would have to say that the entire journey would not have been doable without Jerry verDorn. He was the most extraordinary acting partner. I trusted his truth and his authenticity as an actor so much that a lot of the success I had doing the role was half his. Because a lot of what you do as an actor is react, and I was definitely not alone doing that work. He was doing it there with me. Had it not been for him, it probably would not have been so successful." Jane Elliot (ex-Carrie)

"He [Jerry verDorn] is fabulous. A super guy. A pro. I'm blessed to be working with him." pictured on the right, Gina Tognoni (Dinah), on her on-screen father
Soapcity, Spring 2004, for Jerry's 25th anniversary on GL Marj Dusay (Alex): "His [Jerry's] work is so fine, so regularly fine. He has that twinkle in his eyes. I couldn't pick one scene that's my favorite. His strength as an actor is his reality, his heart, there's a comfortableness that he delivers. You buy him as the character. There is no flim-flam about it. He's so real. I was intimidated by him when I first met him. I was scared to death if I had to have a scene with him. Because I knew he was such a pro. So cool, so calm and collected, and terribly, terribly nice to boot. Damn it, he wasn't even mean to me!"
Soapcity, Spring 2004, for Jerry's 25th anniversary on GL Grant Aleksander (Phillip): "On camera, you can't miss him. He's the guy that will stand there, look you in eye, and say damn near anything as though he would stake his life on it. And, after a minute of listening, you would too." (pictured on left, Grant Aleksander)
2000 Interview with Mary Kay Adams (GL's India), Mary Kay Adams Official Fan Site: "Jerry verDorn is one of my favorite people. Everything you've heard about him is true. He's one of the kindest, funniest, nicest, handsomest actors there are. Everything about him is genuine; there's no rough edge. He's just wonderful, and he's a great actor. He's a lot of fun to work with."
